The men’s and women’s cross country team was back in action this weekend at the 2012 Killer Bee Invite hosted by St. Ambrose.

There were 12 schools competing at this year’s meet. The men’s team pulled off an upset by winning both the College Division and the Junior College Division. They were lead by Albert Murrey. He ran the very hilly 5 mile course in a time of 26:17, that time also earned him the 2nd place overall finisher. Others running in the top 5 for the men were Alek Stojanovic(5th), Jordan Staley(6th), Luke Padeskey(12th), and Taylor Singleton(16th).

The women were lead by Hannah Singleton. She placed 19th overall and ran a very hard 5k course in 20:08. Others that finished in the top 100 were Victoria Heller(37th) and Tykeshia Thompson(82nd).

Coach Herron said:  “This was really a great day for the team. This was by far the toughest course that we have raced on all year and most of our athletes ran their best times. It shows that all the hard work and getting up early to go for runs does pay off. I am truly proud of them. Not only are they having a very good year racing but they also do a great job in the classroom. Now we have to stay focused and keep pushing to continue to drop time.”

The Lynx will next compete at the Bradley Invite on October the 12th starting at 4:00pm.
