Lincoln, IL – The men’s and women’s cross country team earned Academic All-NJCAA Teams for the 2012 season. The men’s team was 11th in the nation with a team GPA of 3.54. Academic All-Americans for the men’s team was Joel Flores (Calumet City, IL), Luke Padeskey (Moline, IL), Taylor Singleton (South Pekin, IL), Traxton Taylor (Marion, IL), and Albert Murrey (Durham, NC).

The women’s team was 18th with a team GPA of 3.39. Academic All-Americans for the women’s team was Kayla Carrell (Bartonville, IL), Hannah Singleton (South Pekin, IL), Tykeshia Thompson (Akron, OH), Jerica Browder (Bartonville, IL), and Rachel Whittaker (Akron, OH). Coach Herron said, “I am very proud of the work our team has done in the classroom. This marks the second year in a row that both teams have been Academic All-Americans. It is a trend that I hope will continue for a long time. It goes to show that a student or team can be both successful in the classroom and in their sport, it just requires more energy and effort.”
