The cross country team competed at the Brissman/Lundeen Invite on September 27 hosted by Augustana College. The meet included over 40 different schools represented and over a 1,000 total athletes. The women’s team placed 3rd out of the 8 teams represented in the junior college division. They were led by Tina Demogerontas, who placed 123rd and ran the 6k course in a time of 26:01. Others in the top 5 for the ladies was Kaiyla Brooks (180th), Akiya Thompson (184th), Lizzi Herzog (192nd) and Kalina Gordley (194th).
The men’s team placed 4th out of the 8 junior college teams represented. They were led by John Davis, who placed 144th and ran the 8k course in a time of 28:51. Others in the top 5 for the men were Josh Montgomery (180th), Joel Flores (188th), Zach Humphery (206th) and Jermaine Sanders (214th).
Coach Herron said, “I was please at the significant drops in time our teams had this week. They have been working very hard at practice and they are starting to see their performances getting better. This is a very young team and I know they will only continue to improve.”
