The men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the BU Invite hosted by Bradley University over the weekend. The meet was held at Donovan Park in Peoria Illinois. This was a non scored meet.
Placing in the top 15 for the men was Austin Webster in 8th place. Webster ran a very tough 8k course in a time of 27:08. Lincoln’s Zach Podunajec placed 13th and Eduardo Lopez finished 15th.
Placing in the top 15 for the women’s team was Sala Hanne. Hanne finished 9th overall with a time of 22:02. Jasmine Brooks placed 14th and teammate Iradukunda Josephine was right behind her in 15th.
Coach Herron said, “I was very pleased at how well we competed today. This was by far the hardest course that we have run on in the last few years. To me this was a “true” cross country course.”
Herron was very impressed with how his team finished the second half of their races. “The best part was that most of them ran the second half of the race faster than the first half of the race. This shows me that they are truly starting to learn how to race at the college level and their level of fitness is increasing. Coach Richardson has been doing an excellent job with them and they are getting more confident all the time.”
The Lynx will be in action again this Friday at 2pm at the Bradley “Pink” Invite. The meet will be held at Newman Golf Course in Peoria Illinois.
